School Name – Seeking Public Input

The School District 60 Board of Education is seeking public input for a name for the Northeast elementary school currently under construction north of the Fort St John Hospital.

School District 60 Naming Protocols are as follows:

  • The Board will seek public input for suggestions in the naming of new schools
  • New schools shall be named after either the geographic areas and/or communities they serve or after persons of recognized historic, cultural and or social significance.
  • Persons to be considered for school names are to have been deceased for a period of no less than 5 years.
  • In selecting new school names the board will be sensitive to cultural and social diversity and take care that the names be distinct from other school names, be in good taste and be capable of standing the test of time
  • Final naming decisions will be determined by a consensus of trustees.
