School District 60 Peace River North, would like to express our gratitude to NorthRiver Midstream who are providing significant volunteer and financial support to expand the playground at Margaret Ma Murray Community School.

Playgrounds are an integral part of our school grounds which offer opportunities to students for creative play, physical fitness, and collaboration. Often Parent Advisory Councils (PACs) are fundraising to enhance playgrounds and replace out of date components.

NorthRiver Midstream has generously responded to the call from the Margaret Ma Murray Community School PAC for support. NRM’s contribution of funding and staff time will see an expansion of the current MMMCS playground with construction slated to begin in July 2021. The new playground will be available for student and community use in the Fall of 2021. NRM’s donation completes the PAC fundraising efforts that have also been supported by the community.

Quotes

“I was very ecstatic when we were told that NorthRiver Midstream was going to fund the remainder of the project and our school will now have a brand new all inclusive playground for our children and the community to enjoy. I will never be able to express how thankful the PAC is to make our playground dream into a reality” -MMMCS PAC President Christine Kraeleman

“I am humbled by the generosity of North River Midstream for providing the much needed funds to build our school an accessible playground. The PAC has worked extremely hard to find the support for this playground and have diligently worked on fundraising for this substantial investment in our community. We are so looking forward to the installation this summer and the years of enjoyment the students, families and community members will receive from this joint project. We are truly grateful to North River Midstream, and the Ma Murray PAC. Thank you for the generous donation.” – MMMCS Principal Kathy Scheck

“NorthRiver Midstream is very pleased to support the building of an accessible playground at Ma Murray Community School. Many of our employees live and work in Fort St. John, and supporting the community is important to us at NorthRiver. There are few places where you can see community as clearly as when kids play on a playground. I’m really looking forward to the playground opening later this year and providing children of all abilities a place to play and just be kids.” – John Soini, COO of NorthRiver Midstream

“From a staff perspective, this significant addition to outside play equipment is most welcome and appreciated. Students will have even more options for play as well as for gross motor skill development. This additional apparatus reinforces the world-class status of the Margaret Ma Murray Community School facility and campus.” – Superintendent of Schools Stephen Petrucci

“This substantial donation from North River Midstream is another example of the community support our district receives that enhances the opportunities our students have. Play is an important aspect of learning. I echo Nancy Barrand’s statement that “a great recess is an essential building block for healthy school environments that help kids thrive, socially, emotionally and physically.” The new playground pieces will also be used by the community beyond school hours. A big thanks to all that have been or will be part of this playground addition.” – Board of Education Chair Helen Gilbert
