Thank you to the Variety School Grant Program for their generous support in purchasing bikes that support student inclusion in schools.
Biking is a developmentally appropriate activity that so many kids enjoy. Supporting kids with bikes allows them to participate in activity with their peers both physically and socially. This supports physical education goals with active participation, building strength, coordination and balance as well as social connections.
These adapted trikes, pictured below, provide better support for coordination, balance and trunk control for students.
The pedal supports help to keep feet on the pedals for initiating movement and being able to pedal more independently. The bikes also have a rear steering option so that school support staff can help with steering and safety as needed.
Thank you again to the Variety School Grant Program!
