The Tinker Tray Way

During October’s Non-Instructional Day, Kindergarten and Grade 1 teachers at Bert Ambrose collaborated with Speech-Language Pathologist, Michelle Hofstrand, to explore the use of tinker trays in the classroom. Olivia (age 5) and Breckin (age 3) demonstrated different ways to play with the items.  Tinker Trays, or loose parts, are a great way to promote language development, vocabulary expansion, social skills, creativity, fine motor, and self-regulation. Most importantly, tinker trays foster the power of play.
