Math Workstations: CANCELLED SESSION
What is the value of using Math Workstations in a math classroom? These stations provide an opportunity for students to practice and apply skills and strategies taught within the classroom. While students are engaged in purposeful stations, teachers have the opportunity to work individually or with small, flexible groups to meet the individual needs of students. This workshop will address the why, the management, how Core Competencies fit, the Math content & assessment. There are TWO sessions (see below).

Indigenous & Scientific Ways of Knowing Nature SESSION CANCELLED
Based on the book “Bridging Cultures: Indigenous & Scientific Ways of Knowing Nature” by Glen Aikenhead and Herman Michell, come spend the day to learn more about indigenous knowledge and understanding of the physical world. This workshop will provide Science teachers with perspectives on scientific and Indigenous content that will help them incorporate multiple ways of understanding within the curriculum. Participants will get a copy of the book.

Exploring Online Resources & Apps: May 11, 2018 NID
Technology helps to engage students in learning and provides them with opportunities for multiple means of representation and expression. There are so many great resources and applications available to both staff and students in the district such as our Learn60 Google Suite and Digmore e-library. This workshop will provide you with the opportunity to explore and practice using some of these technology resources.
In the morning, we will be exploring online resources and applications related to building skills in the areas of research, online safety and digital citizenship. The afternoon will focus on using Google Suite applications to support learning that are available to staff and students through their Learn60 accounts.

Report Card Writing Support Session for Teachers

My Blueprint Inservice
Simple Student Portfolios & Career Education Resources
My Blueprint is currently in use in both middle schools as well as NPSS. We would like to expand the program to grades 5-6 starting this September 2018. The program is versatile and continues to be expanded for multiple curriculum uses beyond career and portfolios.
Benefits of using My Blueprint Include:
- Supports careers curriculum
- Provides cross-curricular lesson plans based on BC curriculum
- Storage of portfolios for students with parent/teacher access
- Portfolios are archived within the program so they are available in future years
- Housing of illustrations of the core competencies including digital mediums
- Many curricular connections in grades 5 & 6 have been developed and fully outlined for teachers
