We will be working on an upgrade to Helpdesk and a SQL server early Friday morning (5am-8am). We hope to have services back up and running prior to most users being on site.
I’m happy to announce that we will be upgrading the NBCDES internet connection from a 10Mbps connection to 100Mbps. The order has gone into the Provincial Learning Network. No time of completion as of yet but it is in the works!
I’m happy to say that the Wonowon Elementary School’s internet has been upgraded to a 4Mbps ADSL line via Northwestel! We expect this to provide much better reliability, download and upload speeds than the previous satellite connections.
The District Moodle upgrade to 2.1 has gone quite well. Roles, users, calendars, assignments and resources moved perfectly. There were a few instances where images were absolutely referenced to their old course number and had to be fixed. All the LDAP accounts were somehow imported as manual accounts. That took some work to fix but it is done as well.
The new server is available at http://district.prn.bc.ca
Try it out and if you have any issues please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
If your school or district is working on upgrading and want to ask a question or two feel free to ask as well.
Our venerable http://www.district.prn.bc.ca moodle site will be moving to a new virtualized server along with a moodle version upgrade to 2.1 starting 8am Monday, July 11. Services at http://www.district.prn.bc.ca will no longer be available. The new server will be located at http://district.prn.bc.ca (dropped the www) hopefully not too many hours afterwards.
Our regional service will be upgraded from a 100Mb connection to a 1Gb connection by March 13th. Great news for the communities serviced by our RNC in the North!
Happy to inform that Ecole Central will be getting a 10Mpbs fibre optic upgrade from their current 1.5Mbps EB1 copper line in February 2011! Thanks to the folks at PLNet for their work on our behalf with upgrades!
