SUBJECT:        District Health and Safety Committee

Policy

A District Health and Safety Committee shall be established.

Regulations: 

1.         The District Health and Safety Committee will consist of persons representing all worker groups:

 _        Two (2) individuals from CUPE Local 4653

_        Two (2) individuals from Peace River North Teachers’ Association.

_    One (1) Administrative Officer Representative

_    One (1) Trustee.

_    One (1) Supervisor

A    Secretary-Treasurer [or designate]

 2.         Each member will sit on the committee for a two (2) year term except the Secretary-Treasurer [or designate] and the Supervisor of Safety Services who will be standing members.  Committee members representing each Union group shall commence their two-year term in alternating years.  Committee members representing the Administrative Officers and the Trustees shall commence their two-year term in alternating years. 

 3.         The District Health and Safety Committee will meet the second Thursday of October, January and April. Copies of the minutes of the meetings of the District Health and Safety Committee will be sent to:

_        Prevention Services Department of WorkSafeBC.

_        The Board of School Trustees, School District No. 60;

_        Labour Organization involved;

_        All work sites.

 4.         Where general training is required, the Supervisor of Safety Services after consulting with the District Joint Health and Safety Committee Members will approach people to conduct the training.

5)         Where general training is required, the District Health and Safety Committee will approach appropriate people to conduct the training.
