FUN Friends Training a Success!

“Fun FRIENDS is an ‘early years’ version of the FRIENDS program; an evidence-based and school-based anxiety prevention and resiliency program designed to help children develop greater skills in understanding and managing stress and worries.”

“TargetKindergarten and grade 1 teachers, school counsellors, and other K & grade 1school personnel who will directly implement the program with K & grade 1 students in a classroom.”

Last year (2009-2010), SD #60 was chosen along with 6 other School Districts in BC to pilot the Fun FRIENDS program.  The pilot was overwhelmingly successful in all seven districts.

Five K/1 teachers were trained last year and although the number of training sites was limited again this year, we were fortunate to have been selected to be one of those sites.   We were able to offer this training to an additional ten K/1 teachers this year!

We are very fortunate to have Bev Baker as a trained FRIENDS facilitator, in our district ~ willing and eager to be the trainer for the North!  It was great to have our ‘friends’ from Dawson Creek here at our last training, too!
