Notice for Parents – Job Action Update – September 4, 2014

The following message is from the Superintendent of Schools, Dave Sloan.

As you are aware, members of the Peace River North Teachers Association (PRNTA) and the BC Teachers’ Federation (BCTF) have been on a full-scale strike since June 17, 2014.  To date, all efforts aimed at resolving this dispute have been unsuccessful.

While we remain hopeful that an agreement will be reached in the near future, SD 60 schools are unfortunately unable to operate as per normal during the job action.

The absence of our teachers impacts the school district’s ability to supervise and provide educational services for students. Therefore, we ask parents to not send their children to school and to seek alternate childcare arrangements until such time as the strike is brought to an end.

Parents are encouraged to consult our website (www.prn.bc.ca) and follow the local media for updates.

Thank you for your continued understanding during this difficult time.
